‘In a general sense, it’s depicting yourself or finding a ‘perceived’ flaw on your body or on your face that kind of takes grip of your mind. With myself, it stemmed from living in Sydney, Australia, I was the first person to go to the beach, throw my top off. It was something that never bothered me. I always say, and I can laugh back at it now and go, when your 30 and suppose to be settling down and enjoying that later life and not being bothered about ‘aesthetics’ it kind of got to a point with me where I started comparing myself to these guys with the big aesthetic chest and arms and wondering, I’m in the fitness industry, I’m training equally as hard, I’m eating as much. Why am I not getting this body that so many of these guys are getting? Little to say, & a little bit of naivety as well, not knowing what people were putting in to their body. But what I was putting and feeding into my mind was detrimental. - @_glennmarsden

‘Imperfectly Perfect to me means being able to show up as yourself unapologetically. It also means just calling it out loud. Speaking it into the room. When you are feeling that you are not yourself or something is out of alignment. What happens and I learnt this in a very real way. When I got to the end of that medical journey that I had mentioned that I was telling you about earlier in the podcast, I decided for the first time in my life that I was going to take holiday for two weeks and do no work. The unintended benefit and the lesson I learnt from that is when I returned to work, I’ll never forget a comment from one woman on my team. She said, ‘I’m so glad you finally trusted us enough to leave us here in charge and to take a break’ and I though Oh My Goodness, in trying to show up as perfect and do it all, I had unintentionally set a very damaging expectation with my team, that they needed to be perfect to. I started showing up differently with that team. We got to break through results that would not have been possible because for me it was like, they know I’m not perfect and they know I need a break, because we are human.’

Karen is not only an incredible advocate with whom we are truly grateful for her getting behind the IPC & sharing her story, but an internationally-recognized thought leader whose TEDx appearance, keynotes, blogs and books reach hundreds of thousands of business leaders each year. She is the author of Working from Home: Making the New Normal Work for You, Listen UP! How to Tune Into Customers and Turn Down the Noise and also Success With Less.

A prolific blogger and sought-after media interview, she has been featured in Forbes and regularly contributes to Thrive Global and ZDNet.

As Vice President of Customer and Market Insights at Salesforce, she engages current and future customers around the world. She serves on the company’s Work from Home Taskforce, where she is helping the company’s 50,000+ worldwide employees to better adapt to a work-from-home environment.

Passionate about diversity and inclusion, she also serves on the company’s Racial Equality and Justice Taskforce.

'In those Unbearable Moments, we have to know that there is greater, as hard as it may seem' with Brittney Harper

Brittney Harper is a multidimensional woman, making her mark in Ministry as an Author, Entrepreneur, TV personality, spirit-led teacher of God’s Word and Prophetic Intercessor. As a much-in-demand speaker and teacher of the gospel and prophetic voice to many, she continues to travel both nationally and inter-nationally to fulfill her mandated mission: to transform lives, heal hearts, encourage others to find and live in purpose, teach deeper truths and show others the way to live abundantly through Christ.

For those who have never felt or understood spirituality, make sure to give the episode a listen. If there is a commonality between so many people that we have interviewed, through those dark periods of adversity they have come out the other side believing in something far bigger than themselves. We feel very fortunate that the IPC has attracted incredible experts within the medical field, Clinical Professionals, Holistic Therapists, those who teach Spirituality and truly feel blessed that we get to interview and learn so much to be able to get help to so many.

‘I think being Imperfectly Perfect is beautiful. Allowing everyone around you to be honest. We are all weird. We are all a bit quirky and that’s beautiful. Let’s celebrate that. Go out into the world and be exactly who you are. Dr Seuss said; ‘Those who matter, don’t mind and those who mind, don’t matter’and that’s exactly how I want my children and myself. The best thing we can do now is to pass these messages or these lessons on to our children and from the jump, you be exactly who you are. Are you honest? Are you allowing yourself to be honest? - Jamelia

A huge thank you to Britian’s very own singer-songwriter Jamelia for getting behind the Imperfectly Perfect Campaign’s Global Efforts in changing the culture and narrative around Mental Health.

Jamelia is not only an incredible advocate for people speaking up but somebody who has sold millions of albums and scored number one’s all over the world. She has won multiple awards including 4 Mobo’s a Q award and an Ivor Novello. She’s appeared on programmes on every major UK TV channel and hit the screens on countless movies both in front and her music as soundtracks and tv screens.

So we are truly grateful for her taking the time out of her schedule to get behind our efforts and share her story on the ImperfectlyPerfect Podcast.

Michelle Heaton & Husband Hugh Hanley get behind the @imperfectlyperfectcampaign global efforts and next week see’s an incredible chat with them both sharing their story on the ImperfectlyPerfect Podcast with founder Glenn Marsden and Rachael Newsham around Michelle’s battle having had to face some serious health challenges over the past few years, including undergoing a double mastectomy, breast reconstruction a hysterectomy and heart problems, and how she has managed to get through everything with the support of Hugh and her family. We find out how it affected Hugh being a partner watching his loved one struggle and how it impacted him also.

We are truly grateful for Michelle and Hugh getting behind our global efforts in changing the narrative around mental health and sharing their story which will help so many others out there that may be going through similar things.

A quick snippet of the chat with Michelle and Hugh telling us what it means being Imperfectly Perfect to them.

‘To me you have to allow ourselves not to be perfect. Because I always wanted to be perfect, to be the best I can be, and I still do want to be the best I can be and do and the best mum. But I’m never going to be right. Because no-one is right. Nobody is perfect and the more that we understand that and give ourselves a break the better we will be.’ - @wonderwomanshel

‘For me, it is around trying to be the perfect husband. Help Michelle and be her strength because, like she said she has an awful lot of health issues going on there and she’s been through for the last 10 years so much health struggles like hysterectomy, mastectomy, heart surgery, a pancreas issue. That’s a lot to take in, in 10 years for one person plus giving birth to two children. So for me personally, it’s trying to be a perfect husband, a good husband.’ @hughhanley

Glenn Marsden is the founder of the International campaign ‘Imperfectly Perfect’ He is the humble success that brought the @imperfectlyperfectcampaign together which has gone on to gain International recognition within 12 months and has seen over 250 of the worlds most influential public figures get on board his mission.

Losing a friend to suicide and going through adversity himself, his incredible journey of taking a mission to impact the world saw a sheer determination like no other. The @imperfectlyperfectcampaign didn’t come from an organisation with a team behind the scenes, a publicist to get all the publicity, or a team to approach and ask so many of the amazing advocates and faces of the campaign if they would get on board.

This came from a passion, one man, our founder who worked tirelessly reaching out to people to get on board, picking up the phone, learning how to write press releases and ask for help on things he didn’t know, he approached networks with the help of a couple of the advocates on the campaign, then publications that would listen to get the efforts out.

He worked around the clock simultaneously with a young family and a full time job. He worked whilst nobody was watching putting in the blood, sweat and tears and he worked because he cares. He surrounded himself with like minded people who have gone on to help support and build an amazing international team around him these days. ( I am so honoured to be a part of this important legacy alongside Glenn, Eden, Kim, Rob, Jackie, Jeremy, Rob, Rachael, Ryan and Mike )

He turned his own adversity into something pretty special to help countless others around the world and brought so many people together solely who care for making a much needed change with the narrative around mental health. So we ask you guys, get behind Glenn, get behind our global efforts.

One that is fuelled by love for wanting to make a change in this world. Share our message, and help us reach more people who continue to suffer in silence.

Today see’s us reach our second year anniversary of the Imperfectly Perfect Campaign.

*a few words from Founder; Glenn Marsden.

’It has far surpassed what I set out as a passion project. Gaining international attention within 12 months, amassing worldwide influential public figures getting behind my efforts, a highly acclaimed podcast, got the chance to showcase through incredible advocates helping the efforts to the Mental Health Commissioners Chambers at Parliament House, had meetings in the USA at Paramount Pictures, gained international press coverage and network coverage inc being a guest alongside my good friend and team mate @jeremyjacksonfitness on the Global Talkshows Digital Series going out live to 9 million people, being a guest with the campaign on Amazon Prime show Gown & Out in Beverley Hls and NOW we have our global efforts continuing with more incredible initiatives and the International Workshop Series.

Today we looked at our total combined reach and then across our international exposure from all of our platforms and coverage and are sincerely blown away that we have surpassed 10 million and watching our reach and exposure grow by the day.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every person who has believed in my ‘passion’ project to make a change towards mental health and continuing to get behind the campaigns initiatives to merely get more awareness and help in front of people so that they know they are not alone.’ - Glenn Marsden.
